Kim Jong-un received Cuban President Diaz-Canel

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez arrived today in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un led the multitudinous popular reception at the capital's airport and through the main avenues, reports the Prensa Latina news agency.
From the airport Diaz Canel and Kim Jong-un were greeted in a warm and cheering way by almost one million people. Accompanying the Cuban president, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, vice president of the Council of Ministers and the ministers of Communications, Industries and Energy and Mines, Jorge Luis Perdomo, Alfredo López and Raúl García, respectively. Also part of the delegation are the Deputy Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodríguez, the Vice-Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rogelio Sierra Díaz, and the Director of Bilateral Affairs of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Emilio Lozada. The Cuban Ambassador in the DPRK, Jesús Aise, joined the group.
The fraternal relations between the largest of the Antilles and the DPRK have an historical character whose foundations lie in the friendship between the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, and the founder of the DPRK more than 70 years ago and leader of the Korean nation, Kim Il Sung.
Cuba will continue to strengthen the close friendship with this country and to those relations it accords a high priority, according to diplomatic sources quoted by Prensa Latina. Havana and Pyongyang maintain a high level of agreement on the main issues on the international agenda and cooperation in multilateral forums, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, that supports the process of rapprochement and ongoing dialogue in the Korean peninsula as a way to achieve lasting peace in the region, and opposes the unilateral and arbitrary sanctions against Pyongyang, whose cessation has been demanded several times.
