Vietnam awards Cuban President with Order of Ho Chi Minh
Hanoi, Vietnam, November 9, 2018. The President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, was distinguished today with the Order of Ho Chi Minh in recognition of his political merits and contributions to friendship between his country and Vietnam. In the person of its President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, Cuba today witnessed his feelings of respect and admiration towards Ho Chi Minh, the architect of independence and the reunification of Vietnam. Cuban President Díaz-Canel arrived on Thursday night in Hanoi on an official and friendly visit. Based on decades of political identity, solidary and cooperation, the friendship between Cuba and Vietnam was renewed during the meeting held today in this capital by its Presidents, Miguel Díaz-Canel and Nguyen Phu Trong. In an atmosphere of visible cordiality, the two leaders congratulated themselves on the signing of a new bilateral trade agreement. This Friday, his program also includes meetings with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and with the Head of the National Assembly, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. He will also attend a forum with local businessmen. Cuba and Vietnam will increase their economic and cooperation relations. The president of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba highlighted the participation of the Vietnamese business community in the revitalization of the island's economy through various projects and, consequently, in the process of updating its socio-economic model. Tomorrow he will visit Ho Chi Minh City (some 760 kilometers south of Hanoi), the most populous city in Vietnam and its main economic, industrial and financial center.
